Mykhailo Krasnyk (born November 18, 1959, in Rodatychi, Lviv region) is a Ukrainian artist and graphic designer, one of the pioneers of semiotic abstraction and assemblage in Ukrainian art. His creative work includes experiments with archetypes of folk art, landscapes, and metaphysical fantasies.

Early Life and Career
Mykhailo Krasnyk was born on November 18, 1959, in the village of Rodatychi in the Lviv region. From 1975 to 1978, he studied art privately under Stepan Trush.

In 1977, he moved to Lviv and began working as a restorer at the National Museum in Lviv. His artistic vision was influenced by Lviv art historian Andriy Dorosh and his circle of neo-modernist artists, who promoted the culture of free self-expression and worked in the fields of abstract expressionism and existential art. Since 1980, Krasnyk has participated in exhibitions in Ukraine, and from 1990, his works began to be showcased internationally.

From 1986 to 1993, he was a member of the art society “Shlyakh” (“The Path”). Since 1994, he has been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Artistic Expression
In his early works, Krasnyk focused on free, dynamic abstraction, using color, lines, shapes, and textures to convey emotions. He experimented with various techniques, including handmade graphics, monotypes, and color linocuts.

Krasnyk never received formal academic training, which allowed his art to remain uninfluenced by rigid formal rules. His works combine symbols and associations, employing diverse materials to create textures and reliefs. He paints on glass and works with etching, linocuts, and collage. In his graphic art, he often incorporates everyday objects such as scissors, newspaper clippings, candy wrappers, keys, and postcards. His art is influenced by Eastern traditions, particularly Japanese and Chinese art.

The artist places significant emphasis on color, experimenting with contrasts and exploring shades of a single hue.

Exhibitions
Krasnyk's works have been featured in over 300 international and national exhibitions. Since 1991, he has held more than 15 solo exhibitions in Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and the Netherlands. His works are part of the collections of 80 museums and galleries worldwide.
